Allison Hogan (Founder/Owner)

Allison Hogan – Piano, Saxophone, & Voice

Allison is a music teacher and performing artist with over 20 years of experience. She has a BA in Musical Theater and Performance from Columbia College Chicago. In 2015 she performed on Broadway in the rendition of Parade and worked under Jason Robert Brown’s direction. Allison is also a pianist and composer and currently performs in the band: The Handsome Bandit. She is passionate around inspiring her students and community members through the cultural arts. Her favorite pastimes are figure skating, running, and reading.

Darren Arndt – Drums & Beginner Piano

Darren is a music instructor with a focus on percussion and beginner piano for all ages. He took up piano/organ in 2nd grade and percussion and 6th grade and just never stopped. Darren is currently involved in two groups. He performs as part of the percussion section with the Batavia Community Band, his hometown community. He is also the drummer (and occasional vocalist/keyboardist) with the Aurora based cover band Who Cares. He believes the best way to maximize the talents of each student is by tailoring their lesson plan to reach their goals. Darren is a movie buff, enjoys spending time woodworking and becoming a better musician.

Joey Tuzak – Guitar, Ukulele, & Drums

Joey is a multi-instrumentalist and teaches guitar, bass, ukulele, and drums at the studio. He studied music intensely at ECC and really knows his music theory. Having performed in several bands since 2015, Joey incorporates his experience and passion for performing in his lessons. Currently Joey is the drummer for the bands INPO and Yard Waste who have both seen success in the local music scene. Outside of music, Joey works with the elderly as a maintenance director of an assisted living home, enjoys traveling, hiking, and photography. He’s also a huge animal lover and incredibly supportive and patient with his students. 

Zach Green – Violin

Zach attended the Chicago College of Performing Arts, for two and a half years studying under, Lawrence Neuman, of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. While at the CCPA, he studied viola performance and chamber music. His CCPA chamber coaches have included the late Deborah Sobol, Shmuel Ashkenasi, and Li-Kuo Chang. At the close of his second year attending the CCPA, Zach was invited for a summer to study at the Cassalmaggiore music festival in Italy under Roger Chase. After leaving the CCPA, Zach went on to study viola performance with Anthony DeVroye of the Avalon String Quartet at Northern Illinois University. Additionally, he continued to study chamber music with coaches, Mathias Tacke, Blaise Magniere and Faye Seeman. In orchestra he has served as section violist, vice principal violist and principal violist with the LaSalle-Peru Symphony Orchestra, IL, Lake Geneva Symphony, WI, NIU Philharmonic, and several more. He won the NIU concerto competition for 2022 and is an active gigging musician in the greater northern Illinois region. His favorite gigs are pit orchestras, be it opera, musicals, or modern art performances with mixed media.  

Zack Green – Violin, Piano, Voice, Guitar, Ukulele, Bass guitar, & Banjo

Zack is a current honors junior student at Hampshire High School. As a multi- instrumentalist he has completed over 8 years of various studies at Musical Owl. Zack teaches violin, piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, and banjo. Currently he is a member of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra and holds a member seat in EYSO’s honors chamber ensemble: The Hanson String Quartet. Outside of his instrumental focuses, he is an active member of HHS’s theater department and participates in yearly musicals where he has landed lead roles. Zack plans to pursue his professional music degree after HHS. 

Auvell Mullens – Saxophone, Piano, & Bass guitar

Auvell holds degrees in Music and Music Production from Elgin Community College and brings a rich, well-rounded background to his teaching. He has over 8 years of experience on saxophone and 7 years on piano, with classical piano studies under Larry Dieffenbach and Sharel Cassity, and jazz piano training with Ray Koehler. His saxophone mentors include Matthew Muneses, Deb Zelman, and Donnie Sujack.

Auvell’s first instrument was bass guitar, and he continues to grow as a multi-instrumentalist, recently adding vocals and drums to his musical toolkit. One of his favorite musical moments was performing a sold-out show with Victor Wooten. He draws inspiration from artists like Jacob Collier and brings that passion into every lesson.

April Drapeaux – Piano & Voice Instructor

April grew up in Aberdeen, where she studied piano for seven years with a respected local pianist and took voice lessons for two years at a local studio. She earned top honors at Guild performances for four consecutive years and gained additional experience singing in her church choir and performing with family friend and mentor, Bill McGaughey. Inspired by these experiences, she now shares her passion for music by helping students build skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of music.
